Centre for nonviolent action
Organised by the Centre for Nonviolent Action Sarajevo/Belgrade, with the support of the Jajce Culture Centre and the Veterans’ Association, the photography exhibition “War of Memories” was opened on Monday, 23 September 2019. At the opening of the exhibition, we organised a public discussion titled “From a War of Memories to Remembering the War” and this time subtitled “Fighters in War and Peace”
At the initiative of our friends from Germany, Apatiner Gemeinschaft, the Donauschwäbisches Zentralmuseum (DZM) from Ulm and the Donaubüro invited us to a panel discussion on memory, reconciliation, and research on the Danube Swabians
We were glad that we were joined in Goražde by figures from its political life, who also have the power and responsibility to forge a different culture of memory
On 13 March, the Centre for Nonviolent Action and the Biber team organised the promotion of the third Biber Short Story Contest in Podgorica. Already the next day, 14 March, we opened the War of Memories exhibition
The strategy aims to offer guidelines about the lessons to be learned from the wars. Primarily about how to re-examine the national past, which is presented as black-and-white in the dominant narrative.
On Human Rights Day, 10 December, a public debate on the Peacebuilding Strategy was held
The “War of Memories” exhibition was opened on 4 December 2018 at the Cultural Centre in Zavidovići
At the promotion, we discussed both the personal and social responsibility of artists in the reconciliation process in the region, and how activities such as this one can make a contribution.
It all started with a letter from Germany and developed into a warm-hearted and pleasant cooperation.
The short story collection about reconciliation Biber 02 was promoted in Zagreb on 7 June 2018 at the Bogdan Ogrizović Library and Reading Room.
Ivana Franović from the Biber Team, Anuška Minovska, whose story Obitelj strica Akija [Uncle Aki’s Family] won third place, Danilo Lučić, whose story Frakture [Fractures] was also included in the collection, and Qerim Ondozi, translator and associate of the Biber Team spoke at the promotion held at the Philosophy Faculty in Tetovo. Blerim Jashari, a peace activist from Tetovo, was the moderator at the promotion.
Even we were somewhat surprised by the number of visitors to the “War of Memories” exhibition in Kragujevac, the great media interest, numerous individuals who saw the exhibition
